Gotta love those 3am finishes

by Reiss Gunson on Saturday, 08 December 2018 12:58

We got across the finish line, including getting one 230V and one 115V kit handed to DHL Express for delivery to customers on Monday

The kit works extremely well, but im broken after a week of early morning finishes to keep everything rolling out the door

We will hand all the open orders we currently have for the digital pre-infusion kits to DHL Express on Monday i expect

We look forward to showing you the video next week so you can see firsthand the benefits it will offer you over the legacy arrangement

Have a pleasant weekend, im off to have a well deserved cup of Aotea blend from Kokako coffee roasters who are based here in Auckland, but you can easily buy some for yourself from their website

A huge sense of achievement here, this project has been two years in the making and what it does is provide the flexibility to quickly and easily optimise the LR for a range of roasts, from light to dark without the need for tools or mechanical pressure gauges to verify the pre-infusion pressure after the change is made

Its been a very good 2018 and it feels great to cross the finish line

2019 is the year of the LC!

Kind regards

I am pleased to announce that the final price has come in under budget at GBP228.17 plus delivery, and for those customers in the European Union countries we must also charge VAT unless you are VAT registered

Printed circuit boards arrive tomorrow and then we will be getting the overlay labels printed and the housings sent to the powder coater

I will probably add the product to our website later this week when the key components that we are waiting for have arrived

We will get a step by step installation video prepared for your benefit too - it is not a difficult installation by a detailed video is always an enormous help

If you live in the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, or the UK you can now pay with a local bank transfer

by Reiss Gunson on Friday, 30 November 2018 14:07

if you select bank transfer for your payment method at the checkout and live in the USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, or the UK you can now pay with a local bank transfer; an international wire transfer is no longer needed

our checkout serves up the relevant bank account details based on the currency you have selected in our web store

so if you have selected USD as the currency in our webstore, and then bank transfer as the payment method, we will provide the details of our bank account in New York on the sales order that is emailed to you

kind regards

TransferWise - a secure and efficient way to pay

by Reiss Gunson on Thursday, 22 November 2018 16:46

This week TransferWise.com made a major announcement that makes their services as useful to us as Paypal currently is

Previously you needed to open a TransferWise.com account if you wanted to pay us using TransferWise.com

Effective immediately that is no longer required

TransferWise have provided us with bank accounts in the following countries so you can pay us simply and securely with a domestic bank transfer, just as you pay all your other bills

We are now in a postion to allow you to pay the spot rate equivalent of the GBP price for the following currencies:

GBP - to a bank account in London

USD - to a bank account in New York

EUR - to a bank account in Munich

AUD - to a bank account in Melbourne

NZD - to a bank account in Auckland

The team who support my website have not yet had an opportunity to integrate the above changes into the checkout pages, but if it is of interest to you contact me and i can email you the relevant bank account details for your currency

The reason why this is so exciting is we currently have to charge a premium on the non GBP prices to cover the significant transaction costs we incur to convert the non GBP funds into GBP in order to pay our bills which are mostly in GBP

As a result of TransferWise we will now be in a position to offer you the spot rate equivalent of the GBP price with no premium baked in, assuming you are paying by bank transfer and not by credit card or Paypal

We are more than willing to pass these savings on in order to make our machines as affordable as possible

In addition we receive your funds much faster, which means we place your order with the factory faster, which means we ship your machine sooner and it arrives sooner

The vast majority of our sales are for export so this development is a significant step forward for our business

No black friday gimmicks here, just a continuous commitment to getting a niche product to you anywhere in the world as simply and securely as we can

Kind regards

Our digital pre-infusion kit is available for LR owners in early December 2018

by Reiss Gunson on Saturday, 03 November 2018 14:48

It is easy to fit, does not look like an add-on once fitted, makes optimising the machine for your particular roast a precise no tools push of a button, and it enhances reliability

the module includes the wireless hardware from day one so customers with the skills to do so will be able to develop software to control the unit wirelessly too

in time we will build our own app for wireless control but we will not get the app to market this year

it may be worth noting that all we are doing here is taking a mechanical pressure reducing (regulating) valve and pressure gauge that you have on the water supply line to an L1/2/3 and minaturising it to fit inside the LR such that we change the pre-infusion pressure through a wide range without the need for tools or guages to check the set pressure once the change is made; we are simply bringing the capabilities of the L1/2/3 to the LR

the kit is also light and compact for international express delivery with DHL

An email from customer Jeff

by Reiss Gunson on Saturday, 03 November 2018 14:18

Reiss, just pulled my first shot using the Kafatek Monolith grinder, the beans that Denis sends with it that he tests with, and the Londinium - BEST ESPRESSO EVER! Not just bullshitting here - seriously - this is the best shot I've ever had - more depth, more color, more fullness than anything I've ever produced before, or had made for me by others.

I am wowed. Years ago when I went from my old Gaggia Classic to a real E61 HX machine and a good grinder I had a similar improvement in what I was able to produce. This time - more improvement to the point where I have far surpassed anything I have been able to make myself - or anything that has been made for me.

I'm super happy. Between the LR and the Monolith - doesn't get any better, I'm convinced!

Thank you again for all the help,

Jeff
