Updated LONDINIUM R user manual now available in the permanent file

by Reiss Gunson on Monday, 30 October 2017 08:51

its here;

https://londiniumespresso.com/forum/permanent-file/509-pdf-owners-manuals

please familiarise yourself with it

check that a 30mm length of silicone tubing has been fitted to one of the water level sensors in the bottom of the water tank - this ensures that the pump can never drain the tank and run dry

in particular note to prime the pump before fitting the water softening filter, and to soak the water filter inverted for 30 minutes to drive out the air before fitting

you only need to use the water filter if you have hard water and have decided to use it as your method of softening the water

turn the rotary pump off if there is not an audible change to a deeper tone, indicating that it has started pulling water, after 10 seconds of operation otherwise it is at risk of being damaged irrepairably

you will need to be a machine owner and be logged in to access this area

i still need to add some images, but the text is much improved

as always, if you have any questions please contact us

if you are wondering about the distribution tool, the most recent information i have still suggests we should be despatching them on weds this coming week

there are probably about 20-25 customers waiting for these, so dont worry there are plenty to go around as i think we are making about 350

Distribution tool stock update

by Reiss Gunson on Tuesday, 24 October 2017 14:18

so, this is the email i received yesterday (monday 23 october) on where we are with making the distribution tool in house

we have made everything we need, other than the fine wire has not been delivered to us for forming

the status of the wire is:

********************

Yes I ordered them over two weeks ago, they were supposed to be here Wednesday latest. I called the company on Friday (who are now shut down for a week)
They told me if they didn’t get them done Wednesday it would be Monday.
They apologised and said they had some issues and were behind on work, and it wouldn’t be a regular occurrence.

We have all other parts made in house in stock, so as soon as they are here we should be able to put them together. Thinking about it now I’m not sure what we are going to box them in, I’ll look into that.

Cheers,

********************

so you can see from the above that it transpires that the supplier is shut this week so we wont receive the fine wire until next week

you cant also see that we need to crack on and address the packaging, which we are (as a resuilt of the above email)

that is the best information i have

once we have them there will be plenty for everyone as we are making several hundred at a time

i apologise for the delay

as i have written previously, we will not hold back machine orders whilst we wait for the distribution tool (which is included free of charge) - we will send the distribution tool with DHL Express too as soon as it is ready - i would expect this to be weds/thurs next week

if you have any questions, as always, please do not hesitate to contact me

kind regards

We've placed our order for glass hoppers for Compak grinders (does not fit Fresh & Retail models)

by Reiss Gunson on Monday, 23 October 2017 23:41

good things take time, so i expect we will be lucky if we receive these before christmas.  well worth the wait though, a very nice finishing touch for your Compak E5, E6, E8, E10, E10Master or any of the K series grinders

will not fit the Compak Retail or Fresh range

these are pure indulgence and completely unnecessay, but ive really grown to like the sample i purchased and the production versions are going to be even better; we've been working on this since May i think, on & off, to give you some idea how much work goes into refining these little projects

A thank you from Northern Ireland

Reiss

Just to let you know really pleased with the machine and grinder I’m totally knew to the process with a lever machine but getting there. The ordering and dhl for delivery was excellent credit to you. Can you confirm when the distribution tool will be shipped if you can as I will be holidaying and would make arrangements for delivery if needed.

Many thanks,

Finally! 3/8"NPS US compression fitting adaptor for plumbing in the LONDINIUM R

by Reiss Gunson on Wednesday, 18 October 2017 13:39

We have finally had the opportunity to make this adaptor in-house.  It has a 1/8" BSP female thread on the top, allowing you to thread it onto the bottom of the manifold once you remove the pressure hose from the rotary pump.  On the bottom end is a male 3/8" US compression compression hose thread, allowing our American customers to thread on their locally sourced pressure hose.  Too easy.

Apologies for taking so many years to get this produced - it has been on the to do list since 2013.  If you are currently using an unweildy assembly of bits and pieces to plumb your LONDINIUM machine in State side you may be interested in cleaning up your installation by retro-fitting this component

I would like to send one customer in the USA with a LONDINIUM R one of these to try out and report back, so if that is of interest to you please email me and i will get one to you on DHL Express

This component is also suitable for plumbing in L1(2012-2016) machines in the USA

Best

Terminal fitting for expansion valve drain through front panel

by Reiss Gunson on Saturday, 14 October 2017 21:19

I have three of these that i have found whilst rummaging through parts bins today taking better images of parts

They may be of interest to some one who is plumbing in their LR (which i think defeats the purpose of buying an LR, but anyway) who wants to terminate the expansion valve drain through the front panel from where it can drip down onto the drip tray grate - there are many ways to do it and this is not necessarily the best way - i think if i was doing it i would probably drill through the front panel lower down so the drain came into the back of the drip tray as high as possible, but below the drip tray grate.  i would then cut out a notch in the grate to let the drain in and then a notch in the top of the grate in the same place

i hope it goes without saying that if you drill though the powder coated zintec chassis that you will need to put some kind of corrosion protection in place if you dont want rust to form where you have drilled the hole through the chassis

i will part with these for £10 each plus carriage - they were a short custom run in 2012 and that is all there will be

As time permits i am trying to clean up the parts section of the website

by Reiss Gunson on Saturday, 14 October 2017 13:35

its mind numbingly boring, but i am aware that the quality of the images and the location of some of the parts in the Parts section of the website is poor

whenever i have a few spare hours i am gradually cleaning this up, in particular the components that make up the plumbing kit

for example, we have drawn up an adaptor part that is 1/8"BSP female on one end going to 3/8"US compression thread male on the other

this will allow customers in the USA to buy this adaptor and thread directly onto the end of it a locally sourced stainless steel braided hose with 3/8"US compression fittings on each end and thread it straight on; easy!

if you are interested in a Compak E8 in 110V or 230V we currently have a free delivery offer on those items and also the excellent Tonino colourimeter which i have found to be invaluable when discussuing roasting profiles with other roasters remotely - it removes a lot of the guess work and enables more meaningful comparisons to be quickly made

i am also planning to enhance the owners manual with the addition of more images, something i have been meaning to do for a while

if you find bugs in the new website let us know - there are still plenty - and we will add them to the hit list

kind regards

If you have an open order with a LONDINIUM distribution tool in it:

by Reiss Gunson on Saturday, 14 October 2017 13:08

as a result of bringing the production of the LONDINIUM distribution tool in house we have stocked out.  we expect to have lots of stock in 7-10 days, at which point we will fill all the open orders with londinium distribution tools in them

machine orders continue to be despatched and i will send the distribution tool along on a separate DHL Express airway bill as soon as the distribution tools are back in stock

kind regards
