Londinium coffee roasters

As an espresso drinker you have come to the right place.  Londinium Espresso was established in 2004 as a dedicated espresso roaster.  We do not hold stocks of roasted coffee; we hold green coffee and once you have placed your order we roast it for you

Londinium Espresso won't tear at the back of your throat with the excessive acidity that is found in roasts intended for coffee flavoured milkshakes.  Nor is not over-roasted soot.  Londinium Espresso is sweet and dense, and can be evaluated on how pleasant the lingering aftertaste is.  Londinium Espresso does not require additives.  Londinium Espresso compels you to turn on your heel and walk back for a second shot

Londinium Espresso wants to convey to you the terroir of the land on which the coffee was grown, and for this reason we favour single origin coffees over blends.  Of the almost limitless numbers of different coffees grown only a tiny proportion are suitable for single origin espresso, and in our experience the only way to find the gems is buying the green coffee and deciding for ourselves.  Broker and grower descriptions are not to be relied upon.  So over time we are slowly building up a library of what works as single origin espresso

Londinium Espresso delivers what you have paid for.  Every bag bears the date on which the coffee was roasted, and that date has integrity

Selling gourmet coffee pre-ground is something of a bad joke at the customer's expense; coffee stales noticeably in as little as 30 minutes after being ground.  For this reason we only sell whole beans.  If you want to experience gourmet espresso you need to acquire a grinder, something that will give you years of enjoyment if you buy right

If you aren't satisfied with your results, please get in touch.  Trouble shooting is one of the benefits of dealing with Londinium.  As a general rule our coffees like a cooler water temperature, around 92C.  Coffee machines can be descaled, but the truth is they are never the same.  Use Volvic water in your espresso machine unless you are untroubled by hard water.  If you are fortunate enough to have sufficiently soft tap water use a carbon filter if the supply is chlorinated as chlorine has a significantly detrimental impact on the taste of espresso

The best espresso in the world awaits you at Londinium
