Twin spring lever group arrives

by Reiss Gunson on Wednesday, 11 December 2013 13:59

much ado about nothing, but at the insistence of a few of you we have ordered one of these in for you to play with

if you are considering a purchase of a LONDINIUM lever espresso machine, fear not, the specification of the machine is not about to change - it is set in stone for a good few years

i will get a storm case in the correct size and then owners who are interested can book it out on DHL

my views on the twin spring are well known, but for those of you who like to play, we're allowing you to indulge in your fantasies a little this christmas, at least the ones that wont get you in serious trouble

LONDINIUM I in Finland

by Reiss Gunson on Tuesday, 10 December 2013 13:32

dear Reiss,

Items duly received today - thank you. The L-1 has been a complete success in my book and I'm glad I had the courage to join this journey early on. One coffee in the morning and an another during the day on weekends is all i really need, but words can not describe how I miss that whenever travelling away from home.

Thank you for your continued support and passion. I love the 21st century that made it possible for you to pursue your dream and me to become a happy customer.

all the best

martti.

Looking down the barrel...

Take the original steam tip off your LONDINIUM I and compare it with this one

How different is the new LONDINIUM steam wand?

by Reiss Gunson on Wednesday, 04 December 2013 09:20

GBP68K worth of capital expenditure and many more thousands to get that equipment commissioned and this is what we have; a proper steam wand at last.  Easy to produce high quality textured milk for the perfect flat white or cortado, and easy to clean

New steam wands arrived last thing today

better late than never.  might go to the factory and fill orders late tonight, otherwise first thing in the morning

MOO.com - completely correct, delivered on time, superb quality at a very competitive price

by Reiss Gunson on Tuesday, 03 December 2013 05:33

I couldnt recommend Moo highly enough.  I have tried numerous places for business stationary and ive generally been over-charged and underwhelmed

How do Moo do it?  Simple.  They have invested in technology to drive the labour content out of the product; they push the relatively straight-forward task of image load and formatting out to the customer.  Moo have then used technology to deliver their core business, printing, at a consistently high quality and low cost in a timely manner.  I have no doubt this makes it very hard to compete with them, but they are giving me what i want as a customer

I ordered the cards last weds, or possibly tues, and here they are less than a week later right first time

The curious thing is that while they drive their business primarily off templates (the option to custom design does exist) i have come away with business cards that feel fresh & unique

My cards wont be to many people's taste, but that's ok, the whole idea is to alert our customers to the fact that we dont just roast coffee, we also make a machine that gets the best our of our roasts.  So on one side the card is as staid as an accountant's, but on the other its rather lurid

Like LONDINIUM espresso machines Moo's offering isnt cheap, but it is exceptional value for money, and thats the kind of customer we want to appeal to too

Thank you Moo.

LONDINIUM II: Big enough for Texas

by Reiss Gunson on Tuesday, 03 December 2013 04:10

Hi Reiss

Thought you might like to see your first commercial installation in the US - everything is pretty good apart from no adapter for the water which necessitated a rushed trip to the equivalent of B&Q where we had to use a makeshift set of 3 couplings to reach the desired effect - otherwise coffee tastes noticeably sweeter and smoother - our espresso has a great reputation already so excited about the introduction of this machine - the wood finish on all the handles is a really attractive feature - I can do more professional photos but here are some to be going on with

by Reiss Gunson on Sunday, 01 December 2013 12:54

i will add this to our coffee offering tomorrow.

Almost right.

by Reiss Gunson on Sunday, 01 December 2013 12:37

The good news is our consignment of 250g valve bags arrived on friday

The less good news is despite the size of the rectangle around the adhesive name tag label being millimetre perfect on the last run of 1000g bags we did, and those dimensions being transferred to the proof for this 250g bag run, it is not what has been printed on these bags

Despite the gold being so close as to be indistinguishable from one run to the next in the past, the colour of this run is clearly different from the others

Oh well, something to keep us amused with next week.  With a 10 week lead time its a bit of a pain - fortunately we still have enough of the old 250g bags to tide us over
